Dear Debbi and Family. My deepest condolences. Bernie and I enjoyed so many laughs together. He always had a tall tail to tell and they always seemed so real. My favourite will always be how we pretended to be cousins. We had quite a few people convinced. He will always hold a special place in my heart. I am sorry I could not be there for the service. This is my last week of work and unfortunately I am not able to get away. May God comfort you. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Blessings.

Bernie worked with my Dad at Ocean Paving for many years And although I did not know him well, I remember fondly The stories my dad would tell about him. I did meet him several times during a visit he would make to Dad in Monastery(Fin Bowman) but I always remembered how pleasant he was. I had to reply to this because I know if Dad were here he would get me to go to the services with him. My sincere sympathy to all the family of Bernie Backhoe as this is how my Dad spoke of him.
