It was with great sorrow that I learned of Lloyd's passing when I spoke with my Mom this past week. Growing up in Hadleyville and fishing lobsters with my late father Joe, I was blessed to be part of Lloyd's community and also know the benefits and challenges of fishing lobsters in Chedabucto Bay as a Class B Fisher. Lloyd and Rowena's family home was often a fixture in one's daily travels. Whether it be stopping by His first Sandpoint House in Ralph Kavanagh's school bus to pick up His Girls on our way to Canso Strait Consolidated School in Middle Melford, scooting past their mobile home along the beach road on our way down to Hadleyville Pond and the shores of Chedabucto Bay, where Lloyds lobster smack was often pulled up on the beach awaiting next day's launch when he hand hawled his lobster traps to the surface, as few fisher now still do. Lloyd appeared to be happy in Hadleyville, and made it a home for He and His Family. I was blessed to visit with Lloyd and Rowena when I was last home in Hadleyville, before the Covid pandemic restricted travel and visits for us all. I pray that everyone will be able to safely gather to mourn Lloyd's passing but also to celebrate Lloyd's memory and all that he has provided to everyone over his all too brief time here with You all.
