GARCIA (MACDONALD), FLORENCE NINETTE "FLOSSY, MOMMA" – With broken hearts, the family of Florence Ninette Garcia announce her passing at the Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso on Sunday, July 25, 2021. Born on July 20, 1946 in Guysborough to the late Joseph and Lillian MacDonald. Committed to the church and curling community and many, many other committees, events and programs, she donated her time and talents. The hands she held during childbirth, sickness and death. The first one there to tenderly pinch a new-born’s cheek or the one who held you close when your loved one breathed their last. She was the first person you called with good or bad news! The love she had of life and a fun time, always with her unique dance moves! The joy of celebrating holidays (tinselled ceiling), weddings, anniversaries, births, graduations and sporting events. Florence had a generous spirit and an abundance of kindness that was extended to her family, friends and community. She possessed a strong work ethic, and was devoted not only to the physicians at the Canso Medical Center, but the patients she greeted each day. Her sense of humour and hilarious antics made her a joy at many family and community celebrations. Her faith is what guided her, it was sustained throughout life and most recently during her illness. Always there to lend a hand, a shoulder to cry on or dole out some sound and timely advice. We all have a story, if they were all captured on paper, there would be volumes. There are not enough eloquent words or fancy adjectives to describe the feeling of loss and hurt that so many are feeling right now, but one thing for sure, she was a rare person, like finding that 4 leaf clover. Once you met her you never forgot her. Known as Gamma to her grandchildren, who were her whole world; and her theirs. In the end let us all strive to be a little more like Momma Flossie! Let's take all the amazing qualities and strength that she showed us and pay it forward in our lives. Let's honour her by doing a little something for someone else everyday. Live our lives with the joy in which she lived hers. Florence is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 53 years, Edward Garcia; daughter, Tammy (Darren) Rhynold, Middle Sackville; son, Timmy Garcia (Kim Hendsbee), Truro; daughter, Rachelle Garcia, Charlottetown (Andre Cantin); cherished grandsons, Tristan, Tyson and Nathan; granddaughters, Courtney & Chloe; brother, Clair (Marlaine), Little Dover; sisters, Geraldine Sanderson, Dominion; Barbara MacLean, Canso; Anne (George) Murphy, Canso; Kate (Joe) Jamieson, Guysborough; brother, Brian Fougere, Mahone Bay; sister-in-law, Theresa and countless nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart, amazing friends (too many to count) and colleagues of a long professional life.
