Eileen Gertrude Casey July 20 1929 to Aug 26 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of Eileen Casey announce her passing on Thursday, August 26, 2021 in Canso Seaside Manor with her family by her side. Born on July 20th, 1929 to the late Howard and Sophia (Keating) Dort. She is survived by her five children, Ann Marie Rhynold, Shirley (Ira) Nunn, Theresa Casey, Sheila (Tony) Kolanko and Joan (John) Collings; grandchildren, Bobby, Blair, Breen, James, Nathan, Yvonne, Joey, Casey, Keigan, Stephen and Liam. Great-grandchildren, Brandi, Isaac, John, and Aylah. Mom loved her Grandchildren to the moon and back; she was known as "Nanie" not only to her own but to many other special people. Many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband, Stephen; brother, Gerald and sister, Edith. From an early age she was destined to care for all those around her. She was a nursing assistant for many years at St. Martha’s Hospital, Eastern Memorial Hospital and Hazel Hill Rest Home. After marrying the love of her life, she continued her journey being a homemaker and raising her five daughters. She loved her family with all her heart and was loved in return by all. Baker extraordinaire. She loved to read the local paper and tell everyone their horoscope for the day, do word search puzzles and a good game of 45’s. She loved music and dancing. Although quiet and a true lady, she loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Visitation will be in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso on Sunday, August 30th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in Star of the Sea Parish, Canso on Monday, Aug 31st at 11 a.m. officiated by Father Jonathan Nnajiofor. We would like to thank the staff at Seaside Manor for the amazing care, they truly loved her as their own. Family flowers only.
