I was just sitting at my PC and I thought of Billo. I knew where he had ended up after Military Service. Always thought about him. We were in Borden in the late fifties and again in the mid eighties. Always a good friend, even at Morrison High. Quite a shock to discover his passing. My condolences to all Gary McPherson McPherson St, Glace Bay

Brenda & family: So sorry to learn of Bill's passing. We have so many memories from the time of Bill's ministry in O'Leary. He was so full of energy and tried to keep us in line. I will always remember the joy as he shared stories of the frogs out in Leard's Pond eating all those bugs . I am sure Gramps Bill's bedtime stories were the best. Those stories delighted all the guys be they 2 or 92. Many can still recall those frogs. Bill was indeed one that served his Lord using his gifts to help those in need regardless of their life experiences and in turn many found a way to repay by extending help to another. We hope memories of Bill will comfort you .

Dear Brenda and Family, I was so sorry to learn of Bill's passing. I have such good memories of your family's time in O'Leary as neighbours and with Bill for confirmation classes. I even ran into him in Halifax a few times after I started work here. There was always a laugh to be had-and I think that's a nice way to be remembered. Take care of each other.

To the MacLennan family, I first met Bill at the Maritime Conference of the UCC in 1975; he was wearing his uniform, and I was an impressionable student minister. He was so easy to speak with and I'm glad he was still serving in the Chaplaincy when I later joined up. I will remember his genuine outgoing nature, superb sense of humour and as you wrote, his easy manner of relating to all people, civilian or military. May the great God whom he served and we worship, comfort you noticeably in your moments of grief. Live for all whom he loved and you will sustain his legacy. RIP and in God's keeping. Yours most respectfully, Reed Padre (ret'd)

My dear friends, Many, many memories came flooding back early today when I read Bill's obituary. Those days in Borden in 1987 when the two Capers met up and managed to drive Fred crazy as we cleared into the many base units. Bill taught me so much about caring for military members and families, that I will always say his mentoring set me up for a delightful 24 years of ministry. There is no doubt in my mind that Padre Bill was One of the very finest military Padres in the post-WWII period. He knew how to communicate with soldiers and he knew best how to intervene for them with the leadership. In my later years as I was involved in recruiting and training new chaplains, the role model that always remained in my mind was Padre Bill. On a personal note he was a true friend through some extraordinary changes, as he was also a friend to my family, and especially to Ainsley (Parachute Bum!). We told stories, a few lies here and there, laughed hard and often, and shared some tears along the way. His legacy certainly will remain in the minds and hearts of those who encountered him on their journey, and they were doubly blessed if Bill was the Padre to help and care for them on their journey. My heart and prayers are with Brenda, his children and grandchildren. May you find comfort and God's arms surrounding you with friends and family in these days of grief and remembering.

Dear Brenda & family, How very saddening it is to learn of fellow-AST classmate Bill's death. Our prayers and caring surround you at this difficult time of loss as they have been since our AST days. How we would love to be with you in support which, under normal circumstances we would be. However, as I am unable to take the Covid-19 shots, it is unwise for me to travel.
