Paul, Geraldine "Mulch" Age 71 of We’koqma’q First Nation. It is with broken hearts and many tears that we, the family of Geraldine "Mulch" Paul announce the passing of the most amazing, beautiful, kind hearted woman loved by so many, on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, surrounded by family, our beloved Mulch made her final journey to reunite with her parents, grandparents, son, husband brothers and sisters. The name given to her by her grandfather; Kji Saqamaw Gabriel Sylliboy was "Mulchewej" meaning the youngest born child in the family. So, everyone knew her as "Mulch". Mulch was a mom to her own children plus many other children she took into her home. So many called her Mom, because she was a kind hearted mother to so many. She was a foster mother and go to person for advice for her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was a woman of many talents as a arts and craftsperson who would take on a craft challenge. Some of the crafts she created were beading, Christmas Ornaments, making baskets, quilts, Christmas wreaths and leather work. In her early years she operated a pizza shop and arcade. Mulch took training courses in small engine repair and that was something she loved, from repairing small kitchen appliances, radios and her specialty was sewing machines. She also trained as a personal care assistant. Some of her interest were playing bingo and playing cards, with family and friends. She was employed as an Adult Care Worker for many years and cared for her mother. She was also a Cursiesta Member of the Cursillio Movement. Mulch cherished her grandchildren so much and she always attended many school events and took part in teaching children crafts. Mulch travelled to St. Ann de Beaupre with her family and friends. Most memorable trip was her Pilgrimage to Medjugorje with her siblings. She and her husband along with their sons travelled to Maine in her younger days to pick blueberries. Mulch is survived by her sons, Michael (Shannon) Paul, Jason Paul and Harrison (Shawla) Paul all of We’koqma’q; sister, Anna K (Francis) Pierro, Wagmatook; adopted sisters, Barbara Matheson, Maine; Bridget Marshall, Potlotek and Matilda Koopman, Halifax; best friend, Ann Denny; grandchildren, Misel, Becky, Alexa, Von, Pierce, Harrison Jr., Teanna, Kyle, Tikisha, Hope, Leon, Jason Dwayne "J.D." and Roman; great-grandchildren, Kallia, Big Cove; Rosie, Adaya, Zoey and Myla all of We’koqma’q; Godchildren, Vera Pierro, Sheila Williams, Beatrice Toney, Valerie Martin, Chelsea Googoo, Rene Young, Thomas T.J.
