ATKINS, Harvey “Elliot”- 80, Half Way Cove, Guysborough, Co., died Thursday September 17, 2009 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Cook’s Cove, Guysborough Co., he was a son of the late Charles and Marie (Sonia) Atkins. Elliot was a member of St. Ann’s Parish, Guysborough. He worked for many years and retired from the Department of Transportation in Guysborough. Elliot will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 42 years Linda (Delorey); daughters Donna (Darren) Casey, Half Way Cove, Karen (Reid) Swaine, Hazel Hill, Tracey, Evanston; son Joe, at home; grandchildren Ryan Casey, Emily Casey; sister-in-law Genesta Atkins, Cook’s Cove. He was predeceased by sisters Rose Scanlon, Hilda Jamieson, Edith Snyder, Frances MacDonald, Lucy Zinc, brothers John, Walter, Doug. Visitation will be held Saturday from 7-9pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held at 2pm Monday in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Jonathan Nweke officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com.
